CenterPoint's response has been the Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative, a multi-phase plan that includes trimming vegetation along more than 2,000 miles of power lines, installing stronger poles, and a roughly $5 billion infrastructure investment planned through 2028, with a stated goal of avoiding more than 500,000 outages in a Beryl-scale storm going forward. That's a real, well-funded effort, but it's also a multi-year one, and it doesn't help a specific household during this year's storm season or next year's. Summer Grid Strain: When the Grid Itself Is the Risk
