See your rate

Takes about 60 seconds. We need: your ZIP code, your average monthly bill, and basic info about your home.

Sign your subscription agreement

If you like your rate, you sign a 36-month subscription agreement the same way you'd sign up for any other service. No large purchase. No financing application. No loan.

What you're signing: A service agreement that makes Terra your electricity provider and allows us to install equipment on your roof. The agreement includes your fixed rate, the equipment Terra installs, and the terms for maintenance and repairs.

We install solar panels and your battery

Terra coordinates everything: permits, installation, inspection. Solar panels go on your roof, sized to cover your home's annual energy use. A 40 kWh battery system goes inside your home or garage.

Timeline: Typically 4–8 weeks from signing to installation. We handle all permitting with the city. You don't make any calls or coordinate any contractors.

Your electric company switches to Terra

Your service switches from your current provider to Terra Energy (via Light Energy, our licensed REP partner). No disruption to your electricity. The switch happens in the background.

Your current provider: You don't need to call them. Terra handles the switch. CenterPoint continues to deliver electricity through the same wires, only the billing company changes.

System activates and you start saving

Once your system gets Permission to Operate (PTO) from CenterPoint, everything goes live. Your panels start generating. Your battery charges and discharges automatically. Your bill drops.

From day one: Solar powers your home during daylight hours. Excess energy goes back to the grid and earns you a 4¢/kWh buyback credit. At night, your battery discharges to keep your bill low. If you need more, the grid covers it.

Rooftop Solar Panels

Panels are sized to offset 100% of your home's average annual energy consumption. Terra owns them, maintains them, and insures them for the life of your subscription. If a panel breaks, cracks, or underperforms — we fix it. You never call a contractor.

40 kWh Whole-Home Battery

40 kilowatt hours of storage is enough to back up an entire standard Houston home — AC, refrigerator, lighting, everything — through a typical grid outage. When the power goes out, the battery switches on automatically. You don't flip any switches or make any decisions.

Your Electric Company

Terra replaces your current electric provider entirely. Solar generation, battery usage, and grid electricity are all managed through Terra and billed as one monthly charge. 100% renewable energy. Your rate doesn't expire after the initial 36-month period.

Do I have to buy the solar panels?

No. Terra owns the solar panels and the battery. They go on your property, but they belong to us — we maintain them, insure them, and repair them if anything goes wrong. You never buy, finance, or take on any debt for the equipment. You're subscribing to an energy service, the same way you subscribe to electricity today — just with solar and battery included.

What happens when Houston loses power?

Your 40 kWh battery kicks in automatically — typically within milliseconds. Your AC, refrigerator, lights, and other appliances keep running. You don't flip any switches or make any decisions. The outage only affects homes that don't have battery backup. Once the grid comes back, your battery recharges from your solar panels during the day.

What happens after 36 months?

Your rate does not go up. The 36-month period is the initial agreement term — after that, you can continue as a Terra subscriber at the same rate, or you can cancel without any penalty. There's no rate spike, no renegotiation, no pressure. The only thing tied to 36 months is the VPP credit structure, which is expected to be extended based on market conditions.

What if I sell my home?

The Terra contract is transferable. If you sell your home, the new owner can assume your Terra subscription — same rate, same equipment. This is typically a selling point, since the new owner gets solar and battery backup at a below-market rate from day one. Terra handles all the transfer paperwork. You don't pay any penalty for selling.
