What do you mean you don’t sell solar?

We own, maintain, repair, and insure the entire system through Light Energy LLC (PUCT Certificate No. 10340). It's similar to subscribing to ADT or a satellite TV service — you get the equipment and the service, we handle the rest.

How long is the contract term?

You may cancel after 36 months with a 1.9% annual adjustment. However, the agreement is ten years to protect you against excessive rate increases.

Do you use my house as collateral?

No. there is no lien. This is not a loan.

What happens if I sell or move?

We can transfer the subscription to the next homeowner.

What happens to my roof if I cancel at the end of my term?

We remove the system at no cost and fix anything the system caused.

What happens if the panels are not working?

Our commitment to you is that your system is always up and running. We are driven by customer satisfaction. If, for any reason, your system is down (unless you caused it directly), you would not be charged for that time.

What will I be billed for?

One subscription, two line items: your TerraOne subscription (with your monthly VPP battery credit applied) and a separate charge for any grid-drawn power. Your personalized rate is based on your roof, shading, and usage — we'll show you your specific numbers during your review.

Will I still have power during an outage?

Yes. Your system includes a 40 kWh whole-home battery, so when the grid goes down, your entire home stays powered — not just a few essential circuits.

How long does it take to install?

The install itself typically takes a few days. Permitting timelines depend on your municipality — we'll keep you updated from signup to activation.

How long does the system last?

For as long as you remain a subscriber — we handle all maintenance and repair.

What happens on a cloudy day or at night?

Your battery covers you first; if it's depleted, you draw from the grid as usual.

Can I just switch providers without going solar?

No. TerraOne is a bundled solar + battery subscription — we don't offer standalone provider-switching without the system. The solar and battery are what make your rate and backup possible.
